Business Establishing a High-Performing Offshore Team
Establishing a high-performing offshore team requires strategic management, effective training, and a focus on team culture. Drawing from my experience at various companies, I’ve successfully created cost-effective teams in the Philippines, managing them remotely while fostering a thriving team environment.
My approach focuses on high expectations paired with high care. Instead of investing in expensive tools, I streamlined processes and trained my teams on essential core tools, empowering them to become proficient without costly integrations. This not only saved the company money but also built a robust skill set within the team.
HANDBALL Cultivating a Strong and Engaged Sports Community
Building a vibrant sports community is challenging due to limited funding & resources, lack of experienced staff, and the need for continuous growth. However, effective leadership can turn these obstacles into opportunities for unity and development.
As the former President of Auckland Handball and current Head of Delegation for New Zealand’s national youth teams, I leverage 26 years of handball experience to enhance the management and leadership of clubs and the national team. My focus is on establishing guidelines and templates to streamline processes for future campaigns, emphasizing marketing and visibility of NZ handball while building relationships with international sports bodies and federations.
“All great leaders were great managers,
but not all great managers were great leaders.”
Leadership vs Management
In many corporate environments, there are strong managers but a lack of true leaders. Managers are organized, execution-focused, and great at problem-solving. However, without leaders—who are visionary, innovative, and emotionally intelligent—companies can become stagnant and resistant to change.
To thrive, a company needs both. Leaders set the vision and inspire, while managers ensure efficient execution. Unfortunately, many workplaces overemphasize management, sacrificing team culture, retention, and adaptability. Balancing both leadership and management is crucial to fostering a dynamic, engaged, and successful work environment.
